Bringing Hope to Nicaragua: A Beautiful Feet International Mission Trip

Last month, we had the incredible opportunity to travel to Nicaragua, where the Lord opened so many doors for us. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that He was at work, preparing hearts and communities for the life-saving mission of pregnancy ministry.

We are especially grateful to ABWE missionaries Bruce and Laura Edgar, who have faithfully served in Nicaragua for 19 years. Their ministry has helped plant countless churches through their Church Network, and their deep connections within the Christian community made this trip especially fruitful. Bruce and Laura shared about Beautiful Feet International’s work around the world and invited local pastors to attend our Speak Life training.

Training Church Leaders to Speak Life

During our time in Nicaragua, we conducted two Speak Life trainings—one in Managua and another in Sébaco. Over these two sessions, we trained 84 people from 27 different churches, equipping them to establish pregnancy ministries within their own communities.

Our training team included Melissa Heiland, the founder and executive director of Beautiful Feet International, and Jenn Taylor, regional coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean. It was an incredible joy to see the enthusiasm and passion of these pastors and leaders as they learned how to minister to women in crisis pregnancies.

A Church Answering the Call

One of the most inspiring moments of our trip came on our last Sunday in Nicaragua. We had the privilege of worshiping at Pastor Mauricio’s church. Earlier in the week, he had attended our training, and he was so excited to see us again. He shared that he and his church leadership had already begun making plans to start a Beautiful Feet pregnancy ministry within their church.

Pastor Mauricio and his team were discussing where and how they could serve pregnant women in their community. Their enthusiasm and willingness to act so quickly were a powerful testimony to how God is moving in Nicaragua.

Praying for a Nation

As we reflect on our time in Nicaragua, we are overwhelmed with gratitude. The seeds have been planted, and we trust that God will bring forth a great harvest—saving babies, supporting mothers, and strengthening churches through pregnancy ministry.
